Awajigawara tiles are one of Japan's three largest types of tiles. The three types of tiles are ”Sanshugawara”, “Sekishugawara”, and “Awajigawara” tiles.

These tiles are made into many kinds of shapes which include shiny silver which are made in Minamiawaji City. The firing temperature of Awajigawara tiles is around 1000°C, the lowest temperature among the three large tiles.

Fine-grained clay called “name clay” is suitable for these “ibushi” roof tiles. Minamiawaji’s production volume of “Ibushi” tiles is the highest in the country.
